How to Install a WordPress Plugin from a ZIP File

Navigate to Plugins → Add New

In your WordPress admin sidebar, go to Plugins → Add New.

Click "Upload Plugin"

At the top of the screen, click the Upload Plugin button.

Select your ZIP file

Click Choose File, locate your plugin-name.zip, and open it.

Install & Activate

Click Install Now, then Activate Plugin when complete.

Quick fixes

  • • File too large? Increase upload_max_filesize in php.ini
  • • Permission error? Ensure wp-content/plugins is writable (755)
  • • White screen? Enable WP_DEBUG or deactivate via FTP
